Atlanta, GA – This week, the House will vote on legislation that would renew for three years the Covid-era Obamacare premium subsides that expired on December 31. The vote was forced on Speaker Johnson through a discharge petition signed by all House Democrats and four House Republicans. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“Obamacare broke our healthcare system, as we at Tea Party Patriots Action have been warning about for over 15 years. Through this bill to extend taxpayer-paid subsidies to insurance companies, the Democrats are demanding a bailout worth about $100 billion, no strings attached. The Senate already rejected a three-year extension of these Obamacare premium subsidies. Additionally, the House has already passed legislation that reforms our healthcare system in a patient-centered, market-based manner.

“Four House Republicans have signed the discharge petition to force this week’s vote. No additional Republicans should join them in voting for it. We should be rolling back Obamacare, not extending it.”

In November, Ms. Martin authored a Daily Caller op-ed titled On Obamacare, We Conservatives Were Right All Along.
