Our Healthcare Mess Could Get Messier

Remember when Nancy Pelosi famously said we have to “pass the bill to find out what’s in it?” Years later, we are left with ObamaCare and Americans are now paying more for healthcare and life-saving drugs. For nearly two years, the Trump Administration has made a resounding effort to drain the swamp and cut Obama-era regulations. As part of the tax reform package, Republicans passed a law last year gutting the tax penalty that required Americans to opt in for low-quality health insurance. A complete repeal effort, however, has been a lost cause and House Republicans paid the price in the November midterms. Now that Democrats are about to ...

Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund Weekly Report from Washington for 10/29/18

CALENDAR: The House and Senate are both in recess, and will not return until November 13. TPPCF ELECTION UPDATE: THE NBC NEWS/WALL STREET JOURNAL POLL AND THE GENERIC BALLOT: For the last 23 years, NBC News and The Wall Street Journal have been running an excellent bipartisan poll, using the Democrat pollster Peter Yang and the Republican pollster Bill McInturff. That means that we have an archive of 23 years’ worth of polling information that’s in the same format, and that’s very helpful when we’re trying to figure out historical trends. One of the questions that election analysts always like to look at is what’s called the ...

Affordable Care Act has never been “affordable”

Since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) passed in 2010, Americans are paying more for healthcare and life-saving drugs. For nearly two years, the Trump Administration has made a resounding effort to drain the swamp and cut Obama-era regulations. It's time that GOP-led Congress works with the administration to cut the "unaffordable" ACA. The Hill has the details: To put that in perspective, the real median household income in 2017 was $61,372. Thus family health coverage costs nearly a third of the median family’s income. But citing the average family premium of nearly $20,000, as high as that is, can be misleading. A small employer, especially ...

Red states are taking care of unfinished business

This week, lawyers from 20 states urged a federal judge to end enforcement of ObamaCare. These states are making a group effort to pick up where GOP-led Congress left off in the fight to scrap the law. Politico has the story: Lawyers from 20 mostly conservative states on Wednesday demanded a federal judge scrap the “hollow shell” of Obamacare. The judge didn’t immediately rule on their request for an injunction but at times sounded sympathetic to their argument. The oral arguments opened the latest legal bid to kill the 2010 health care law, which has survived two major Supreme Court rulings and months of repeal efforts in Congress. While ...

Thanks to ObamaCare, doctors are harder to find. Shocker!

Many doctors are cutting back on patients, leaving or retiring from their practices, and fewer people are going into medical school. A recent Association of Medical Colleges report shows that there will be a decline of up to 121,300 doctors within the next 12 years. A survey found that nearly two-thirds of doctors are burned out and/or depressed. Doctors are unable to take in new patients and at the same time are unable to get current patients in fast enough for an important checkup. These are all factors under ObamaCare. The medical community is struggling under the law’s mandates as much as patients and insurance companies. Investor’s ...

Trump is fixing the healthcare mess Obama left behind

The Trump Administration has not yet given up on the fight to repeal and replace the disastrous ObamaCare law. In case you’ve missed it, here are some things that Trump has done to help save millions of Americans from suffering under the law: The Hill has the details: Trump attempted to push the Republican-led Congress to repeal and replace ObamaCare, but, as usual, Congress couldn’t get the job done, largely because so-called “moderate” Republicans were totally unwilling to do anything other than make slight tweaks to a collapsing system. At best, moderates’ proposals would have put a Band-Aid on the ObamaCare bullet wound. Without ...

Citizens Fund Endorses Randy Weber in TX-14

ATLANTA, Ga. – Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund (TPPCF) Chairman Jenny Beth Martin today released the following statement, announcing that the Super PAC associated with the nation’s largest Tea Party group has endorsed Randy Weber for reelection to Congress in Texas’s 14th congressional district. “Randy Weber has been a strong constitutional conservative ever since arriving in Congress. And he’s got a backbone, too – as was made evident when he became one of only nine Republicans to vote for an alternative to Paul Ryan for Speaker in the fall of 2015. “That’s the kind of backbone it’s going to take to truly drain the swamp. ...

Anthem sees increased profits after selling fewer ObamaCare plans

ObamaCare is still a major drain on our healthcare system and our economy to the point where some insurance companies have decided to exit the exchange. Health insurer Anthem decided to sell fewer Obamacare plans and focus more on Medicare Advantage. As a result, Anthem saw profits increase to $1.3 billion compared to its first quarter in 2017. The Washington Examiner has the story: The company's profits increased 30 percent, to $1.3 billion, compared to the first quarter of 2017, according to its latest earnings report. "We are pleased with our first quarter 2018 financial performance, which reflects our commitment to strong medical cost ...

Jenny Beth’s Journal: Repealing ObamaCare: Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

It’s been nearly eight years since ObamaCare went into effect and repealing the disastrous law feels like a pipe dream. While several states are trying to fight the “so-called” constitutionality of ObamaCare in the courts, federal lawmakers have been taking bad approach. Instead of keeping their promises to repeal and replace ObamaCare, Republican lawmakers think the solution is to add tens of billions of dollars to the spending bill in order to bail out health insurance companies. The Hill has the commentary: They’re doing their best to keep it quiet, in hopes they’ll be able to add that bailout money without their own base voters ...
