“Bizarre & Disappointing” Senate Might Not Have Votes

July 14, 2025

Atlanta, GA – This week, the Senate will vote on President Trump’s rescissions package that claws back $9.4 billion in funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and U.S. foreign aid. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“Tea Party Patriots Action is urging every Senator to vote for President Trump’s rescissions package. It is bizarre and disappointing that any Senate Republican would threaten to vote ‘no’ on this common-sense bill. Our federal budget is nearing $7 trillion and our annual budget deficit is nearing $2 trillion. If we cannot claw back $9 billion in spending, then Congress is showing it cannot reach even the bare minimum of fiscal responsibility.

“The President is taking the fiscal crisis seriously by sending this package to Congress and promising additional rescissions packages. The House has done its job, and it’s time for the Senate to step up. We need action. No excuses.”
