Tea Party Patriots Action Urges “No” Vote on War Powers Resolution
March 3, 2026
Atlanta, GA – This week, the Senate and House are expected to vote on a War Powers resolution that would prohibit President Trump from taking further military action in Iran without explicit congressional authorization. In anticipation of that vote, Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:
“Every Member of Congress should vote ‘no’ on the War Powers resolution. President Trump has wielded authority consistent with his Constitutional powers. Iran is the world’s largest state sponsor of terror and it cannot be allowed to possess the world’s deadliest weapon. Even after the President boldly attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities last summer, the Iranian mullahs remained intransient about giving up their nuclear program. The status quo was untenable, and the President was not going to wait for Iran for join North Korea as an explicitly anti-American member of the nuclear club. The consequences for America, Israel, and our other Middle Eastern allies would be unthinkable.
“Tea Party Patriots Action was heavily involved in opposing the Obama administration’s 2015 nuclear deal. We hosted then-candidate Trump at our major rally in front of the Capitol opposing the deal. We supported his decision to tear up the deal in 2018. We supported his attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities last year. We fully support Operation Epic Fury. Our thoughts and prayers are with our brave servicemen and women in uniform as they carry out this vitally important mission. They are keeping America safe.”
