Atlanta, GA – Today, President Trump is expected to sign an executive order putting an end to the practice of “debanking,” in which banks have been shutting down accounts for political reasons. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“This is an important victory for conservatives. President Trump has been a victim of debanking and so have many other conservative individuals and organizations. Tea Party Patriots Action has to go through endless hoops to ensure we have multiple banks accounts with many different banks in case we get debanked. It is a waste of time and energy to execute backup plans and backups of backups in case we become the victim of viewpoint discrimination. No American should be denied service by a bank for exercising his or her Constitutional rights. Denying conservatives the ability to participate in such a vital part of our economy is the very definition of un-American. President Trump’s executive order will finally end this practice by punishing those institutions that engage in it. We are grateful for his leadership.”
