Tea Party Patriots Action Launching Nationwide, Three-Week Bus Tour to Rally Support for SAVE Act When Congress Reconvenes

Congress Should Attach SAVE Act to “Must-Pass” Legislation, Urges Grassroots Group
August 6, 2025
Atlanta, GA – Today, Tea Party Patriots Action announced that it will be launching a nationwide, three-week bus tour to rally support for the SAVE Act, the landmark bill that would require states to obtain documentary proof of citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections. The nation’s largest Tea Party group is urging Congress to attach the SAVE Act to “must-pass” legislation when it reconvenes in September — either a budget resolution, an omnibus spending bill, or the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
The bus tour will begin on Monday, August 18 in Garden Grove, California, and will have about 20 stops before concluding with a rally at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, September 10.
The group will hold events in at least 18 states and the District of Columbia.

Jenny Beth Martin, Honorary Chairman of Tea Party Patriots Action, released the following statement:
“Tea Party Patriots Action is proud to be starting an ambitious, nationwide bus tour to rally support for the SAVE Act as necessary legislation to enhance the integrity of our elections. The House passed the SAVE Act on April 10, with every Republican and four Democrats voting for it. However, in order for the bill to become law, we need the Senate to pass it — and that means we’ll need at least seven Democrat votes. In order to do that, congressional leaders should attach the SAVE Act to ‘must-pass’ legislation when it reconvenes in September.
“During our bus tour, we will be recruiting Americans to sign a petition urging congressional leaders to adopt that strategy. We will present those petitions to Members of Congress at our Capitol Hill rally on September 10.
“On July 15, Tea Party Patriots Action commissioned McLaughlin & Associates to conduct a poll of 1,000 likely general election voters, and it found that 83% agree that ‘proof of United States citizenship should be required to register to vote in American elections’ (13% disagree). Broken down by party, 92% of Republicans, 73% of Democrats, and 82% of Independents agree.
“The legacy media keep insisting that requiring proof of citizenship is redundant, because noncitizen voting is already illegal. What they don’t explain is that there is currently no enforcement method to ensure that the law is being followed. This is where the SAVE Act comes in — it adds an important safety mechanism to ensure the law is being implemented as intended.
“Strengthening election integrity is at the heart of Tea Party Patriots Action’s mission. Ahead of the last two election cycles, we recruited and trained 35,000 poll watchers and poll workers.
“We want to thank Rep. Chip Roy and Sen. Mike Lee for writing the bill, and Speaker Mike Johnson for his leadership to get it passed in the House. Now we need congressional leaders to take the bold but necessary step to get this bill signed into law; it must be attached to ‘must-pass’ legislation, and the sooner the better. This is one of the most important issues Congress will take up during this session, and we must do everything we can to get it across the finish line.”
