Sen. Ted Cruz: Repealing Obamacare is ‘a promise we can and will keep’

News-placeholder-3

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) echoed other tea-party lawmakers’ sentiment that members of the House Freedom Caucus and more mainstream Republicans like Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) will come to a compromise and finalize an Obamacare-repeal bill that will be able to pass in both chambers of Congress.

WFAA8 ABC has the story:

“We must repeal Obamacare,” said Cruz (R-TX). “I think that’s a promise we can and will keep. We’ve got some more work to do.”

The GOP’s first effort collapsed spectacularly on itself last month when Republicans couldn’t muster enough support in their own party to get the president’s proposal passed.

When asked whether Congress would consider another healthcare bill before the 2018 mid-term election, Cruz said, “It certainly better. I’m working night and day for it to happen.”

Members of Congress owe it to the American people to follow through on promises to repeal Obamacare, which has driven up health-insurance premiums and out-of-pocket expenses, left women with a larger health-insurance burden by virtue of fewer men signing up on the exchanges and – among other things – is violating basic constitutional rights.
