        Dear Patriot,

Tomorrow is a big day. The House Judiciary Committee will hold part two of the hearings to examine the impeachment of IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. Since we have dubbed this week “Bill of Rights Week,” I wanted to tell you why this impeachment is so important.

Imagine a group of friends, family, and members of a community coming together to start a club that is concerned about the overall well-being of their country. This club recognizes that for far too long the country has been taken for granted by its government and its people to a point worthy of concern. The club looks back to the things that promoted prosperity in the country and begins educating others on these principles. The biggest hurdle to returning to these principles will require a significant change in the government and the people who run it, but in a country that gives people the freedom to protest its government, this shouldn’t be a major problem. Until it was.

This is the modern day Tea Party movement. We are mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sons, and daughters, simply trying to make a change for the better in our country by adhering to the principles of our founding document, the Constitution.

From the beginning we have focused on three core things that the majority of Americans agree on – personal freedom, economic freedom, and a debt-free future. These ideas were deliberately chosen in an attempt to bring people together, instead of focusing on the issues that politicians so often use to divide us.

We sparked a grassroots movement that has had one of the largest impacts in the history of our country and that’s where things began to go south.

Administration officials and politicians saw us as a threat. They saw the power that we were able to harness and they had to step in and do something to stop us.

So, they aimed the largest and most feared government agency – the IRS – directly at us. They targeted individuals, tea party, patriot, constitutional, 912, and liberty groups for extra scrutiny. This led to extra time, extra paperwork, and extra money just to try to organize and comply within the framework that our government requires.

Many of the individuals who were targeted are friends of mine. Every time I read something about the IRS targeting scandal, I see many of their faces and I am just blown away that so many good and proud Americans have been targeted by their own government. Many of them have given up because the scrutiny was so bad that it wasn’t worth it to them anymore.

We aren’t giving up. To this day, the IRS has not been held accountable for the actions its agents took in trying to silence us and we won’t stop until justice is served.

Lois Lerner, the person at the center of the scandal has been allowed to retire with a pension. John Koskinen, the person appointed by the administration to try to clean up the mess has done nothing but stonewall the investigation and try to protect the agency from being held accountable.

This is the kind of story you see in movies set in other countries that do not cherish freedom. These aren’t the things we are supposed to see in America. Our first amendment protects our right to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition our government. All of these rights were violated in by the IRS.

It’s well past time for Congress to use its oversight authority to hold John Koskinen accountable by impeaching him.

Please join me in sending a message to Congress today by signing our petition. If you give us permission we will send the message on to your Member of Congress on your behalf.
