VA problems still need addressing

Watchdog.org has a bombshell investigation about a Veterans Affairs whistleblower who found himself the center of an investigation after he tried to alert his superiors to wrongdoing. The Overton Brooks VA in Shreveport, LA, had significant problems, including a waiting list of 2,700. It also seems that as many as 37 of those veterans may have died while waiting for care. The whistleblower, Shea Wilkes, first reported the problems in May 2013, a full year before the problems at the Phoenix VA surfaced. But, here’s how Wilkes describes the retaliation [1] that followed after he came forward: “I am mad and frustrated that I have been called a ...

Senate Dems would rather uphold amnesty than fund DHS – CALL NOW!

On Tuesday, Senate Democrats blocked legislation [1] that would have funded the Department of Homeland Security, but reversed President Obama’s executive action on immigration. That’s right: even though DHS funding is set to run out at the end of February, Democrats in the hallowed halls of the Senate think it’s a better idea to preserve amnesty, then fund a government agency. We need to make our voice heard loud and clear. Last November, voters rejected the Obama agenda, including amnesty. Now, it’s time to call BOTH your senators and remind them what last year’s election was all about. Call at 202-224-3121 and tell them to vote to ...

Republicans Tuesday charged President Barack Obama with putting forth a highly divisive State of the Union speech that offered no new proposals and included a plan to raise $320 billion in new taxes that had no chance of passing Congress. HealthCare.gov’s Host of Problems

A new report[1] from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) finds that the website HealthCare.gov is still plagued with a host of security problems that put Americans’ personal and financial information at risk of being compromised by identity thieves. Among them, is the fact that there is no alternate processing site that would allow for the recovery of HealthCare.gov systems, should the site go down unexpectedly. “Collectively, these weaknesses put HealthCare.gov systems and the information they contain at increased and unnecessary risk of unauthorized access, use, disclosure, modification, or loss,” says the report. All in all, the ...

Premiums increasing throughout the country under Obamacare

It’s the million-dollar question: Does the Affordable Care Act lower overall prices for health care in America? According to new analysis, the answer is a resounding “No.” The analysis released by the Manhattan Institute and published by Forbes[1], surveyed health care costs pre- and post-Obamacare, county by county.
