Political gift-giving – for the kids, of course

Thanks to Erika Johnsen of Hot Air for this (emphasis added): Chobani Greek yogurt will be served in school lunches as part of a U.S. Department of Agriculture pilot program, federal lawmakers announced Friday. U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Rep. Richard Hanna, R-Barneveld, Oneida County, pushed for Chobani’s inclusion in the pilot program, which will launch in September in four states — New York, Tennessee, Idaho and Arizona. New York leads the country in Greek yogurt production; Chobani is based in Chenango County. “Starting this school year, students across the state will be balancing New York-made Chobani ...

In Orlando, kids fight for the future

When the media reports on Tea Party efforts, it often portrays the movement as exclusively made up of older Americans. In Orlando, Florida, however, hundreds of home-schooled students and their parents volunteered their time and effort to make calls to undecided voters. They also participated in precinct walks, convincing people in person of the values of the Tea Party Patriots. According to Orlando East Side Tea Party leader Peter Lee, the students are doing fantastic work. “The most responsible, trustworthy, honorable students you will ever see….If these kids are any indication, that really speaks well for the future…” Today is the big ...

Tea Party Patriots Weekly Report from Washington for 08/23/15

CALENDAR:  The House and Senate are both out of town for their August district work period, and will stand in recess until Tuesday, September 8.   CLINTON EMAILS:  So much has happened on the Clinton email front over the last two weeks it’s hard to know where to start. So let me just tell you where we are now: Hillary’s email server has been turned over to the FBI. The FBI has also taken possession of the thumb drive held by Clinton lawyer David Kendall, the thumb drive that contains copies of all the emails she forwarded to the State Department – hundreds of which, it now appears, contained classified information, ...

Tea Party Patriots Weekly Report from Washington for 08/09/15

CALENDAR:  The House and Senate are both on their August district work period, and will stand in recess until Tuesday, September 8. LAST WEEK ON THE SENATE FLOOR: The Senate came back into session at 2 PM Monday. They began by considering the Motion To Proceed to S. 1881, prohibiting Federal funding of Planned Parenthood. The motion failed, by a vote of 53-46. Sen. McConnell flipped his vote at the end to the “Nay” side so he can bring up the bill again at a later date if he so desires. Then the Senate moved to take up S. 754, the Cybersecurity bill. This bill was reported out by the Intelligence Committee by a vote of 14-1, so it ...

Jenny Beth Martin Responds to Senator McConnell’s vow to avoid Government Shutdowns.

It is no surprise that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would take it upon himself to unilaterally vow that there would be no future government shut downs.  He's forgotten about his vow to uphold the Constitution. When he starts negotiating the power of Congress - the power of the purse - it makes it much easier for President Obama to win. Republicans were elected to the majority in the Senate to be a roadblock to the Obama agenda. Everyday Americans across this country increasingly wonder what the difference is between Mitch McConnell controlling the Senate and Harry Reid controlling the Senate. That's a problem. It is absurd to see ...

The Lying McConnell is Trying to Revive a Govt Agency

This is the closest thing to a unicorn we’ve ever seen. A government agency has shut its doors, and we have a small window of time to ensure that it stays that way! We're talking about the Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has continuously opposed the reauthorization of Ex-Im publicly, but today he decided he will allow the Highway Bill to come to the floor with only two amendments – an amendment to repeal Obamacare and an amendment to reauthorize Ex-Im. We know the Obamacare vote is a show vote because it would require 60 votes to pass. This is the Senate Majority Leader’s way of trying to appease conserva...

They will still in session until Friday. LAST WEEK ON THE HOUSE FLOOR: The House began its work last week on Monday, taking up six ...

Income Inequality, Beltway Style

I had to be in Washington the other day, so I squirreled away an hour to drive by my old house in northern Virginia. My wife Jane and I had bought it when we went to Washington with Reagan. Heady days, those. We were young and idealistic and determined to help The Gipper beat the Soviets in the Cold War, free up the American economy, and put a halt to the spreading bureaucracy of central government. In time, we came around to the idea that two out of three ain’t bad. It was a great house to raise a family – a graceful Cape Cod-style clapboard with a big yard. Shade trees with swings for the kids. A garden for Jane, a library for me. First thing ...

Tea Party Patriots attorney testifies before Congress

Tuesday afternoon Cleta Mitchell, attorney for Tea Party Patriots, testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The topic of the Committee hearing was “Ensuring transparency through the Freedom of Information Act”. Unfortunately, in Tea Party Patriots’ experience, federal agencies have been anything but transparent. In her testimony, Ms. Mitchell outlined Tea Party Patriots’ experience with a federal government that is unresponsive, uncoordinated, and as Ms. Mitchell put it, “has evidenced a pattern of stealth and arrogant disregard for the statutory rights of the American people to know what their government is ...

News Briefing for Wednesday, June 3

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: Patriot Act Renewal: Senate Overwhelmingly Votes To Proceed “…Conservative groups are arguing against McConnell’s amendments, and that could augur trouble in the House. So far, the USA Freedom Act has enjoyed unusual support from both tea party groups and the American Civil Liberties Union. “We support passage of the USA Freedom Act as passed by the House, and see no need whatsoever for these amendments which are obviously designed to weaken the bill,” Tea Party Patriots CEO Jenny Beth Martin said in a statement. “Simply put, if it is amended in the manner that the Majority Leader desires, we will be forced to ...
