What Hillary’s emails have to do with Benghazi

Rep. Trey Gowdy, who’s been leading the Congressional investigation into the Benghazi attack, said over the weekend [1] that he’s not afraid to call Hillary Clinton back for questioning. As Secretary of State, we now know, Clinton conducted her business on a private email server, using it to send and store government correspondence. That correspondence could provide pivotal clues into what happened the night of the terrorist attack and the following days, whether Clinton wants it to or not. “I think an eminently reasonable alternative is for her to turn over that server to an independent, neutral party,” Gowdy to the Washington Examiner. ...

Obama Administration Plans Appeal (The Connecticut Post – Kevin Diaz)

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's executive order on immigration is down, but not out, as the administration vowed Tuesday to appeal the decision of a federal judge in Texas questioning the White House's legal authority... Continue here.

Has the State Department learned nothing post-Benghazi?

Todd Keil, one of the experts who testified at the first Benghazi hearing [1] on Wednesday told the committee that the State Department has failed to follow through on proposals that would improve diplomatic security. “Clear the smoke. Remove the mirrors,” said Keil. He later added, “Words and cursory actions by the Department of State ring hollow absent transparency and verifiable and sustainable actions to fully put into practice the letter and the intent of our recommendations.” Wednesday’s hearing by the Benghazi Special committee, chaired by Rep. Trey Gowdy, focused on the State Department’s implementation of the Accountability ...

Lerner’s “Crazy” Talk

Over the years, Washington elites have cast their share of caustic comments at those who stand in the way of bigger government. But the latest round of insults–by former IRS official Lois Lerner, takes the cake. Lerner crossed the line when she snarkily stated in an e-mail, “So, we don't need to worry about alien teRrorists. (sic) It's our own crazies that will take us down."[1] This malicious rhetoric comes as no surprise to Jenny Beth Martin, Co-founder of Tea Party Patriots.“‘It demonstrates malice aforethought and underlies her deliberate abuse of power,’[Martin] said in an email to The Fiscal Times. ‘This orchestrated campaign of ...

Democrats join Benghazi committee, reluctantly

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has finally decided[1] that a special committee to investigate the Benghazi attack that left four Americans dead is worthy of Democrats’ participation. On Wednesday, Pelosi appointed five members of her caucus to the committee after several days-worth of criticizing and denouncing the committee’s very existence. Even in making the announcement, the Democratic leader denounced it as “partisan exercise” and said Democrats were needed to make sure the investigation is honest and fair. “Unfortunately, the Republican obsession with Benghazi has not been about the victims or their families or our country,...

Committee on Benghazi is a good first step

Speaker John Boehner announced[1] Monday that South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy will head up the select committee to investigate the 2012 Benghazi attacks. We applaud the choice of Gowdy, who we know will bring his hard-hitting prosecutorial style to the table. We also appreciate the fact that Boehner is finally giving this scandal the attention and man power it deserves. The latest White House emails, turned over thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request, confirmed what we knew all along; the Obama administration went to great lengths to downplay the importance of the attack, and pushed a bogus story about the attack being caused by a video. We ...

On Benghazi, the truth will come out

The White House, specifically Press Secretary Jay Carney, have seen finer weeks. But ultimately, that’s what happens when you obfuscate, attempt to intimidate, and hide the truth. The beginning of this week saw the release[1], via a Freedom of Information Act request, of a never-before-seen email detailing the White House’s response in the aftermath of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. The email, written by deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes, was sent with the subject line of “PREP CALL with Susan.” The email includes messaging “goals” for then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, including, “to ...

Even ABC says State Department lied on Benghazi

This morning, ABC’s Jonathan Karl reported the State Department made as many as 12 changes to various Benghazi talking points. This is despite White House Press Secretary Jay Carney declaring “only one word” was changed. From ABC: State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland raised specific objections to this paragraph drafted by the CIA in its earlier versions of the talking points: “The Agency has produced numerous pieces on the threat of extremists linked to al-Qa’ida in Benghazi and eastern Libya.  These noted that, since April, there have been at least five other attacks against foreign interests in Benghazi by unidentified assailants, ...

Tea Party Patriots Demand Clarity in Benghazi Cover-Up

Launches #TWEET4TRUTH Campaign to Call for Investigation Today, Tea Party Patriots, the nation’s largest tea party organization, called on the nation’s news media to thoroughly investigate the White House’s cover-up of the details related to the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Stevens and three other brave Americans in Benghazi, Libya. In the weeks following the deaths, extensive conspiracy theories, rumors and misinformation have filled news reports that paint a devastating picture of an inept and thoughtless Administration that allowed these brave individuals to be killed by al-Qaeda while U.S. forces were ordered to “stand-down.” “It ...

News Briefing for Tuesday, March 31

HEALTHCARE: House Tea Party leader signs up for ObamaCare “One of ObamaCare’s staunchest foes in Congress acknowledged for the first time that he has purchased insurance at HealthCare.gov. “For the record, I am on ObamaCare. Yee-hah!” Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) said during a town-hall meeting on Thursday. “My wife complains about it all the time,” he said, according to the Clay Center Dispatch. The disclosure from the chairman of the House GOP’s Tea Party Caucus comes just days after another firebrand conservative, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), admitted that he was planning to enroll in insurance through ObamaCare…” http...
