Atlanta, GA – Today, the House is expected to vote on two articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Mayorkas for his failure to secure our southern border. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA) Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement: 

“We urge every Member of Congress to vote for Secretary Mayorkas’ impeachment.  The standards for impeachment are high, but Mayorkas has clearly met them:  His refusal to enforce our immigration laws has created a humanitarian and national security disaster on our southern border.  Since Mayorkas became DHS Secretary, we know at least eight million illegal aliens have entered our country, with the actual number being much higher and impossible to know.   

“Should the House act, Senate Democrats must give Mayorkas a legitimate trial, as the constitution demands.  Any attempt by Senate Democrats to dismiss the charges on an up-or-down vote before any trial begins would be a fundamental failure to live up to the Senate’s constitutional responsibilities.   

“The Mayorkas scandal is an accountability moment for Members of Congress in both parties, and we expect Congress to deliver.  Mayorkas must go.”
