Tea Party Patriots Action Reacts to Durham Report, Thanks Jordan for Launching Congressional Hearings

Atlanta, GA – On Monday, Special Counsel John Durham released his long-awaited report slamming the FBI’s handling of the Trump-Russia probe. Durham concluded that the FBI never should have launched a full investigation into Trump’s campaign, while also concluding that the FBI engaged in “disparate treatment” between the Trump and Clinton campaigns. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA) Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“The report is finally in, and it’s worth the wait – after seven years of lies and smears by the highest levels of the Democrat party and corrupt leaders of our nation’s law enforcement and intelligence agencies, we have a conclusive analysis showing there never was any ‘there’ there, and the FBI’s leadership never should have acted the way it did.

“This week’s report by Special Counsel John Durham shows that not only was the idea of presidential candidate Donald Trump colluding with Russia a complete fabrication, but it was created and spread by his political opponents at the Clinton campaign. After Trump took office, government leaders then used this hoax to try to subvert Trump’s presidency.

“Conservatives knew it was a hoax from Day One and will properly feel gratified by the findings. Sadly, it’s doubtful liberals will go through even a single page of Durham’s 306-page report to learn the truth.

“Congress must investigate the new information contained in Durham’s report. Hearings must be held to uncover the full extent of the corruption. All parties involved, no matter how high-reaching, must be held accountable.

“We thank House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan — who also serves as chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government — for announcing his intent to hold hearings on this matter. We are confident Chairman Jordan will conduct such hearings with a view to further finding and exposing the rot that still permeates too much of the top levels of our government’s permanent bureaucracy.

“The American people demand and deserve a government that works for them, rather than against them. Chairman Jordan and Counsel Durham know this, and have demonstrated their determination to return government to its rightful — and lawful — place.

“To that end, justice must be done. Those who lawlessly and corruptly weaponized the government against their political opponents must be held to account for their actions — not just because actions must have consequences, but as a deterrent to future lawbreaking. Equality before the law demands no less.”
