Atlanta, GA – Today, the Associated Press published a review of waste and fraud in the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan that President Biden signed into law last year. In response, Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA) Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“According to the Associated Press, many local governments that harassed parents and students over mandates and masks turned around and directed billions of dollars in federal money for ‘Covid relief’ to hotels, ballparks, golf courses, even paying off overdue child support. Combined with last week’s news that taxpayers were taken for more than $160 billion in fraudulent ‘unemployment’ claims, this is outrageous. And now President Biden and congressional Democrats want to spend tens of billions more on so-called ‘Covid relief’? No way! This insidious hypocrisy only adds insult to injury. We’ve spent trillions in Covid relief that simply went into the back pockets of politicians and their supporters, while those same politicians assaulted the American people with needless lockdowns and mandates. President Biden himself said at the State of the Union the government would go after criminals who stole relief money meant for small businesses and Americans. Will they go after politicians who spent hundreds of millions of relief money on hotels and ballparks?”
