Atlanta, GA – Over the weekend, President Tump announced a fresh strategy to enact the SAVE America Act: attaching it to either a bipartisan housing bill or a bill to reauthorization FISA.

The SAVE America Act would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections and a national photo ID in order to vote, among other reforms.

The House is expected to vote on the housing bill this week. Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) is set to expire on June 12.

In response, Tea Party Patriots Action Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued the following statement:

“We at Tea Party Patriots Action fully support President Trump’s strategy to attach the SAVE America Act to ‘must-pass’ legislation to get it across the finish line. We have been urging Congress to adopt this strategy for the past year, highlighted by our nationwide, ‘Only Citizens Vote’ bus tour in the summer of 2025. This March, we released a poll by McLaughlin & Associates showing that 77% of Americans agree that proof of U.S. citizenship should be required in order to register to vote in US elections, with 60% of Americans saying it is urgent for the Senate to act before the first ballots are cast in the midterm elections.

“Time is of the essence, and we are keeping the pedal to the metal. We have been crisscrossing the country to rally voters in support of this historic bill. In recent weeks, we have been in Alaska, Arizona, and South Dakota. We will be in Maine the last weekend of May, in California on June 4th, and in Nevada during the June 13-14th weekend.

“President Trump is equally engaged on this issue. It is time for Congress to act.”
