ATLANTA, Ga – Tea Party Patriots CEO and co-founder Jenny Beth Martin released the following statement today after President Obama’s “lecture” at the University of Chicago.

“The last thing the American people need is yet another ‘lecture’ from President Obama on the Constitution and the Supreme Court. This is the same president who lawlessly bypassed Congress to unilaterally grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, showing no respect for our Constitutional system of separated powers between co-equal branches of government. The American people know that President Obama is trying to bully Congress into helping him cement a liberal majority on the Supreme Court that will threaten our basic rights, like the Second Amendment right to bear arms, and defer to unaccountable bureaucrats at federal agencies like the IRS and EPA. Senate Republicans are actually doing the job we asked them to do when we gave them a majority in 2014: serve as a check on President Obama’s reckless liberal agenda. The American people deserve a voice in the selection of the next Supreme Court Justice and we are thankful Senate Republicans are insisting we have that opportunity.”
