“This is President Trump’s moment on China, and grassroots activists stand with him as he fundamentally reshapes our relationship with that malevolent power.  To his credit, President Trump – almost alone among politicians – has spent years talking about the dangers China poses to America – economically and militarily.  COVID-19 shows that danger can no longer be ignored. We must make sure China pays a price for negligently spreading the virus, especially with growing reports that COVID-19 may have escaped from a Chinese lab.  Just as importantly, we must end our economic dependence on China, especially when it comes to manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and other products that can now be considered vital for national security. Democrats will fight President Trump every step of the way as he begins this process, but the grassroots – not the donor class – will give him the support he needs to push it through.”
