Election Integrity
Exercising your right to vote and be heard is a fundamental principle upon which the United States was founded. Every legally cast ballot represents the voice of an American citizen — and every illegally cast ballot silences one.
Tea Party Patriots Action believes that American elections must be reserved for American citizens. That principle isn't partisan. It isn't controversial. And it shouldn't require a fight — but it does.
From Coalition Partner to Leading Voice
For years, election integrity was an issue where Tea Party Patriots Action supported the work of partner organizations. We recognized its importance, but our primary focus remained on fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets.
That changed as the scale of the problem became impossible to ignore. Millions of noncitizens have entered the country in recent years, and the current voter registration system relies largely on an honor system — applicants simply check a box affirming they are citizens, with little ability for election officials to verify the claim. Loopholes in the National Voter Registration Act have allowed noncitizens to end up on voter rolls, and in some documented cases, to cast ballots in American elections.
When public trust in elections began to erode, Tea Party Patriots Action stepped up — not just as a voice in the conversation, but as a leader in the fight to fix the problem.
The SAVE Act
Tea Party Patriots Action, alongside our partners in the Only Citizens Vote Coalition, helped craft the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act — the SAVE Act. Authored by Rep. Chip Roy and Sen. Mike Lee, the SAVE Act is straightforward: it requires documentary proof of United States citizenship to register to vote in federal elections, and gives states access to federal databases to identify and remove noncitizens who have been improperly registered.
The principle is simple. It's already illegal for noncitizens to vote — but as Jenny Beth Martin has said, just because something is illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen. If you need identification to board a plane, buy fireworks, or enter a state capitol building, it is not unreasonable to ask for proof of citizenship to vote in an American election.
Tea Party Patriots Action commissioned a national poll conducted by John McLaughlin — President Trump's pollster — which found that 87% of Americans agree that proof of citizenship should be required to register to vote, including large majorities of Democrats and independents. This is not a fringe position. It is an overwhelming consensus that politicians in Washington have failed to act on.
The SAVE Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support. Tea Party Patriots Action continues to fight for its passage in the Senate and its enactment into law before the next election cycle.
Only Citizens Vote
In 2024, Tea Party Patriots Action helped launch the Only Citizens Vote Coalition — a partnership of more than seventy local, state, and national organizations and citizen leaders united by a single belief: only United States citizens should be allowed to vote in any American election — local, state, and federal.
Jenny Beth Martin stood with Speaker Mike Johnson, Rep. Chip Roy, and Sen. Mike Lee at the Capitol Hill press conference that launched the coalition, and has continued to serve as one of its most visible champions.
In the summer of 2025, Tea Party Patriots Action took the fight on the road with the Only Citizens Vote Bus Tour — an 18-stop grassroots tour from California to Washington, D.C., rallying voters, sharing the facts, and building pressure on Congress to act. The tour culminated with a rally at Upper Senate Park, where patriots from across the country delivered petition signatures directly to members of Congress.
At every stop, the message was the same: the American people are way ahead of the politicians on this issue. They want their elections secured, and they're tired of waiting.
The Election Integrity Center
Legislation matters — but laws are only as strong as the citizens willing to ensure they're followed. That's why Tea Party Patriots Action built the Election Integrity Center, a nationwide effort to recruit, train, and deploy everyday Americans as poll watchers, poll workers, and election integrity volunteers.
Starting in 2021, Tea Party Patriots Action began building permanent election integrity infrastructure in every state — down to the county level. We toured states hosting workshops that trained citizens on how the election process actually works: voter flow at polling places, voting equipment and how it operates, opening and closing procedures, what happens to data cards and ballots after polls close, how to identify irregularities, and the laws governing poll watching in their state.
The numbers tell the story. In 2022 alone, Tea Party Patriots Action hosted more than 80 election integrity workshops across the country and directly trained thousands of volunteers — many of whom went on to serve as part of the more than 80,000 poll watchers the RNC deployed nationwide. Ahead of the last two election cycles, Tea Party Patriots Action recruited and trained 35,000 poll watchers and poll workers.
Our approach is grounded in a simple principle: election integrity is not about trying to influence outcomes on behalf of candidates we prefer. It is about making sure the process is fair, honest, and transparent so that everyone can trust the results — no matter which side wins. When elections are secure, one side might be disappointed, but they can be disappointed and still trust the outcome. That trust is essential to self-government.
Every American citizen has the right to be involved in the election process. If you are not filling positions like poll worker, poll watcher, or officer of election, those positions will be filled by someone else. We believe the citizens who care most about transparency should be the ones showing up.
What We Stand For
Tea Party Patriots Action believes:
- Only United States citizens should vote in American elections — local, state, and federal.
- Proof of citizenship should be required to register to vote. The honor system is not enough.
- States must have the tools and access to federal databases needed to maintain clean, accurate voter rolls.
- Every legally cast ballot must be counted. Every illegally cast ballot undermines the voice of a legitimate voter.
- Election integrity is not a partisan issue — it is a constitutional imperative.
We will continue to fight for these principles through legislation, grassroots action, coalition building, and public education until every American can be confident that the outcome of every election is truly the will of the people.
