The Top Obamacare Myths

Myth #1. If you like your health insurance, you can keep it.

Reality: Many Americans, due to Obamacare, will LOSE their health insurance.

Despite the promises made about Obamacare, many Americans are already learning that they are losing their health insurance due to the new law.  Many families with health savings accounts (HSAs), mini-med plans, Medicare Advantage, and child-only policies have already lost their health insurance.

Myth #2. You can keep your doctor.

Reality: With Obamacare, you may NOT be able to keep your doctor.

President Obama repeatedly promised that people would be able to keep their doctor.  The sad truth, however, is that doctors are retiring early to avoid the full impact of Obamacare.

Myth #3. Your health insurance premiums will go down.

Reality: Your insurance premiums will likely INCREASE.

One of the most common promises made about ObamaCare was that it would lead to lower health insurance premiums, In reality, the opposite has proven true. The RAND Corporation estimates that young people will end up paying at least 17% more in health insurance costs.

Myth #4. Obamacare is budget neutral.
Reality: Obamacare has a HUGE price tag.

In order to pass Obamacare in 2010, the Democrats in Congress used several budget gimmicks to reduce the expected cost of Obamacare.  The gimmicks they employed included double-counting savings from Medicare and the CLASS Act, as well as indexing benefits to general inflation rather than medical inflation.  Once those gimmicks are eliminated, the true cost of Obamacare is close to $2.6 trillion.

Myth #5. Obamacare will provide insurance for everyone and provide “universal coverage.”
Reality: Tens of millions of Americans will be without insurance.

Democrats in Congress said that Obamacare was necessary to provide universal coverage. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that 31 million people will still be without health insurance, even after the law is fully implemented.

Myth #6. Obamacare is a “jobs bill.”
Reality: Obamacare is DESTROYING the 40-hour workweek and killing our economy.

Then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi famously said that Obamacare would be a jobs bill, creating 4 million jobs.  The reality?  Rather than creating jobs, Obamacare has forced employers to make drastic labor cuts, laying people off and also slashing hours. Other employers, faced with huge Obamacare taxes and fines, are moving their plants and operations overseas.
