The Unaffordable Train Wreck – Memorial Day (ARCHIVE)

Memorial Day Congressional Recess Toolkit

The Senate and the House are both in recess this week, which means they’ll be back at home.  Now is our chance to make sure our elected officials understand how bad this Senate amnesty bill really is!  As a reminder, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has promised President Obama that he will deliver the Senate’s vote on amnesty before July 4th, so the pressure is really on now!  We have a small window of time to defeat this bill!

This week we also want to hear from you about the toolkits.  Is there anything you would like to see in future toolkits?  How is your group using the toolkit?  Please share with us how you are using this week’s toolkit.  Take pictures of your street rally and send them to us.  Share your Facebook posts and tweets with us.  As always, your feedback is invaluable.

Here are some recommended activities for this Congressional recess week.

Wednesday:

Today’s focus is on visiting the local offices of Senators and U.S. House Representatives.  Remember, this is their Congressional recess, so many of them will be working out of their office.  We want to make sure every Member of Congress understands just how important it is to defeat the amnesty bill.

Today we will continue with the weekly rallies.  These street rallies have a huge impact, even if only a few people gather with signs.  If you do a street rally this week, please be sure to take pictures.  We will use these pictures to show Members of Congress, their staff, and the media of our activities.
