Hello fellow Geauga/Lake County Tea Party Patriots!
I am excited to join this noble cause. I have officially abandoned the Republican Party. I voted for Romney but only because the alternative was much worse. The only hope for change is that the Tea Party and other like minded conservatives, who want to return our country to the principles that made our country great, can put pressure from the ”outside in” like we did in 2010 when some great Tea Party candidates were nominated and we took over the House.
We have only ourselves to blame for the results of the election. We got complacent and let ourselves(Tea Party, Libertarians, and other like minded conservatives) be assimilated into the Republican Party. Instead of embracing us as part of the conservative team, the GOP establishment chose to marginalize us and they reset the rules at the convention to make it that much harder for non establishment groups to exert influence in the party. This was the biggest mistake that the GOP made during the campaign and it is what I believe caused Romney and many other Republican candidates to lose their elections. The Tea Party and the Libertarians were extremely upset by the way they were treated at the GOP convention and I’m sure a good percentage of them did not vote or voted for someone other than Romney.
We can’t sit back and complain, we have to regain the passion that we had two years ago when we had the huge Tax Day Tea Party protests and there was a lot of excitement throughout the country that we had a chance to take back our country and ”clean house” in both houses of Congress. I have been a Tea Party Patriot for several years but I am just now finally getting around to officially joining the Tea Party and I plan to help out in any way that I can at the grassroots and local level to fight to return our country to a nation that is built on the truths that God has given us unalienable rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And it is each of our duty as heirs to this great legacy, which has been preserved through the blood of many patriots who have gone before us, to stand firm to defend these truths that Thomas Jefferson so clearly articulated in the Declaration of Independence:
”We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
