Local Tea Party Group, Adair County Tea Party held a meeting last night June 12, 2012. A tentative agenda was set for action on local issues upcoming. Property tax assessments are beginning, rumor has it, the city is looking for a mere 2 cent increase in taxes; of course a mere 2 cents on a dime is ONLY a 20% tax increase. FYI We need past and present tax rates for the City of Columbia, for those at the meeting a four year county tax history was provided and it was an eye opener for a few. We’re waiting for the other shoe to fall with the County, School Board (new superintendent and a new school contract) not to mention the various taxing boards and districts.

PS. Taking bets the new school super is…Alan Reed. What a farce of a selection process. Mike Harris, owner of WHVE and former business partner at the radio station with Allan Reed, is a member of the school board and selection committee. The honorable thing was for Mr. Harris to do was to recuse himself from the process as they had past financial ties…any takers on the bet they now have future financial ties…OUR TAX MONEY! Just a thought; can anyone say …PAY RAISE.
