In a letter to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Monday, Attorney General Eric Holder wrote that the President has the constitutional authority to use deadly spy drone strikes against American citizens on U.S. soil:

”It is possible, I suppose, to imagine an extraordinary circumstance in which it would be necessary and appropriate under the Constitution and applicable laws of the United States for the President to authorize the military to use lethal force within the territory of the United States.”

But what constitutes ”an extraordinary circumstance”? Is it a citizen lawfully carrying a concealed weapon? A Tea Party member who opposes Obama’s statist agenda? A conservative who views marriage as the sacred union between one man and one woman? Or could it be simply a person who voted against the President?

+ + ”More Than Frightening”

Sen. Paul — who heroically filibustered Obama CIA director nominee John Brennan on Capitol Hill until early this morning — calls Holder’s refusal to rule out the possibility of drone strikes against American citizens on U.S. soil ”more than frightening,” adding:

“It is an affront the constitutional due-process rights of all Americans.”

When pressed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday, Holder did finally agree that it would be unconstitutional to target an American terror suspect if he or she didn’t pose an imminent threat.

But the constitutionality of something doesn’t really seem to matter to Obama and the Left. Over the past five years, they’ve shown nothing but contempt for the Constitution — crushing our rights with ObamaCare and threatening our Second Amendment right to defend ourselves.

Last night, Senator Rand Paul led a historic filibuster against Barack Obama’s targeted drone strikes on American citizens.

By the end of the night, numerous senators found their way to the floor to Stand With Rand!

But not Senator Lindsey Graham.

When Senator Graham finally found his way to the floor this morning, it wasn’t to side with the American people in this common-sense fight.

Instead, Lindsey Graham enthusiastically attacked Rand Paul for filibustering, saying ”it’s not fair to the President” because the decision to murder American citizens should ”reside in the Commander in Chief.”

And to no one’s surprise, Senator John McCain joined his statist buddy to ridicule Rand Paul for having the nerve to oppose our government murdering American citizens.

What was Rand Paul’s crime?

He simply wanted Attorney General Eric Holder to answer the question, ”does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?”

Well, just this afternoon, Barack Obama caved – and Eric Holder answered Rand Paul’s question with a ”NO.”

Thomas, Rand Paul’s victory against the establishment proves there’s never been a better time for freedom-loving Americans to stand up to an out-of-control, reckless government.
