Hi all, is anyone actually here? If so, I need a couple things. First, work. I am an actor and writer. My day job is a technical writer who does policies and procedures. I live in San Dimas, Ca., 91773.

Also, I’m doing some research and would like links to articles or other to support it. Even in ”Hollywood,” when I tell people ”it has nothing to do with caring, it’s how much of your money gets used up by the bureaucracy,” they listen. NOBODY wants their money wasted. But we don’t make that argument…we NEED to.

So, I want to compare doing things through government versus the private sector and specifically, what percent goes to overhead in each comparable function or application.
For example, Hurricane Sandy. If we compared government efforts versus, say, The Salvation Army or others, how much money actually gets to victims.

    Any help greatly appreciated,

    Bill

Thanks Craig, I figured it would be hard, I’ll look into them. Do you get the point though? We and the Left at least SAY we want the same thing, but take different routes. We KNOW gov’t wastes the money on itself, they seem not to care, so we need to make the case to Americans that if the REALLY care and want to help, don’t use government. I think for now, that’s all I really want from fellow T-Pats. That they at least see that argument, maybe we can start forming it, then make it. All the screaming about cliffs, and Socialism, Kenya, etc., take us away from the central argument about freedom vs. collectivism.

      Thanks!

Thanks Craig, and I agree, it’s just how we convince them of our philosophy. We can FIGHT, or agree and show them a better way.
We all, liberals/progressives, conservatives/libertarians, want the same things, right? We all want a better chance for us, and a better world for the next generations, right? The difference is how we get there, not the motives, so let’s leave that out, cause it only raises hackles, shuts off discussion right there. Like if you begin talking and the first thing out of your mouth is, ”statist,” or ”commie,” ”right-winger,” etc., agreed? I think we conservative/libertarians know they have been raised by government, FOR government, like the Eloi from H. G. Wells’s novel The Time Machine.

So, our messages, and arguments need to agree with their ends, and motives, just show them different means, BETTER means, right? That’s why I asked about info on gov’t waste, comparison with private sector, etc. We conservative/libertarians also may know that the means leads back to different motives, but we can leave that out for now, reach across and like Reagan, agree on what we CAN agree on, right?

See, I think that reasoning gets us 90% of the way there, leave the 10% for once they see our way works.

      What do you guys think?
      PS: This is FUN!!!
