Election Reflection from 2008
It is almost four years ago that we heard “the sky is falling” from Treasury Secretary Paulson. We still have no proof of this happening, but at least it provided a platform whereby many self proclaimed important people have convinced themselves they saved the world. In addition to providing an avenue for self aggrandizing, it possibly changed the course of American history.
The two presidential candidates at the time were running a typical presidential race. One was offering Hope and Change, and the other was trying to convince the American public that he was indeed a conservative. This is a difficult task when the bulk of your record would indicate differently. The most legitimate claim to his being a conservative was that he happened to be from the same state as Barry Goldwater.
The public was convinced that the sky had almost hit the earth, and it would cost the American Public almost $800 billion dollars to correct this catastrophe caused by those evil Wall Street People. Remember, congress had nothing to do with these events, even though they encouraged these toxic assets. Is it not a constitutional right of every American to own a home regardless of credit worthiness or ability to repay, asked Barney Frank and Chris Dodd? Was it not okay for Dodd and other Congresspersons to be friends with Angelo and receive special deals?
If McCain had not already lost the election, he certainly sealed the deal with his pathetic reaction of calling for a halt to his campaign, and literally going into panic mode. Not even Sarah Palin could save him at this point, although she gave a Herculean effort.
At that time, I remember trying to put a positive spin on the situation. At least we would not have to endure four years of McCain and his Nelson Rockefeller conservative like administration. And, maybe now that a Marxist/Progressive ideologue was elected, the American public would understand how undermining this philosophy is to a free society that was built on self-reliance, individuality, and equal and unlimited opportunity with the right to succeed or fail. Nothing like this had ever been tried before in the history of man and it proved to be a success beyond all imagination. Maybe, in four years, Americans would rid themselves of this Marxist/Progressive philosophy that was devouring the free, independent, self-reliant and responsible American Society.
Upon reflection, it is certain, that the assessment of the successful candidate in 2008; that he is a Marxist/Progressive ideologue was correct. The assessment that his election might cause the American public to understand not only that he is an ideologue, and this Marxist/Progressive cancerous philosophy he espouses eats away at the very soul of prosperity until all hope is vanished, is still open to question.
The first assessment is provable by first understanding what this Marxist/Progressive philosophy is, than what the Hope and Change Candidate of 2008 stated then and since, and what he has actually done. Karl Marx said that all antagonism in society is caused because there is more than one class in society. These classes are the worker and the capitalist. The capitalist oppresses and abuses the worker when he takes a part of the value of the product the worker produces. Marx says that the oppressive capitalist deserves nothing, because he did not do any labor. In addition, Marx states that all property that is used for production of any kind should be owned by the people as a whole. In order to have a fair and equitable society, the people as a whole must have ownership of all productive property and the proceeds shared accordingly.
The capitalist will then be eliminated and absorbed into the working class. At that time only one class would exist, so in effect a classless society would exist. Since you have a classless society, you would have a society free of antagonism. The actual division of the proceeds produced would be entirely a function of the government. Then the rule of, FROM EACH ACCORDING TO HIS ABILITY TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS NEED would apply.
Now that we have a rudimentary understanding of the Marxist/Progressive philosophy, we can see a progression of statements that indicate the path down which we have been taken. In October of 2008, Joe the Plumber was told that when you spread the wealth around, it is good for everybody. Then, five days prior to the election of 2008, America was told that we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America. Marx stated that before society arrived at the place of sharing the wealth, a fundamental transformation would have to take place.
In October of 2011, America is told that the Occupy groups are frustrated and the protestors are giving voice to a more broad based suspicion about how our financial system works. Prior to this endorsement, the Occupy groups had stated that among their goals was to have more equal wages, and all people guaranteed a wage regardless of employment. They also said that all debt should be forgiven. Marx said in his explanation of how the proceeds should be divided, all people would receive a wage regardless of employment. Also, the capitalist had caused debt because he stole a part of the workers wage. This movement, and consequently these beliefs, was endorsed by Hope and Change several times.
In July of 2012 we were told that if you have a business, you did not build that business. It was built because of help from government. This comment was made when the argument was being made that the business owner must pay more taxes. In other words, the new vision of America is one in which prosperity is shared, which was stated in August of 2012 by Hope and Change.
Over the past three and a half years, much legislation passed has pushed this agenda. The two largest pieces of legislation, Obamacare and the Obama Stimulus are glaring examples. We have heard a constant barrage of berating financially successful people.
They have been told how selfish they are and how the must not be patriotic because they say they pay enough taxes. Marx said there must be class warfare during the fundamental transformation period. This is critical to successfully transforming to a classless society.Logic and reason explain what is happening. The fundamental transformation promised by Hope and Change is happening. We are being transformed into a classless society. Logic and reason would also explain that this is the society desired by members of the mainstream press, by the vast majority of the Democratic (Marxist/Progressive) Party, and a minority of the Republican Party. We also know a portion of the American public, referred to as independents; determine the outcome of all elections. Do they prefer the course of the Hope and Change, Marist/Progressive philosophy that has destroyed prosperity in every society in which it was adopted, or will we look to restore an imperfect but yet free, independent, self-reliant society that has enabled this country to lead the world for years in living standards and generosity to all truly in need.
