    Dear Tea-by-the-Sea Patriots,

Our next TbtS monthly meeting will be on Sunday, July 15th, 4:00pm, upstairs at John Martin’s Restaurant and Irish Pub, 253 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, 33134. 305-445-3777.

Once again, the meeting will again be packed with important info…I am calling it ”Operation Fast and Furious, Version 2.0”. We have a lot on the agenda so please be on time so we can get started promptly.

One thing we have learned in the last week is that we cannot trust ANYONE in Washington to restore our freedoms. We had been relying on Anthony Kennedy to augment the other 4 conservatives on the Supreme Court against ObamaCare. In a shocker, former conservative Chief Justice Roberts folded under political/media pressure and wrote an absolutely frightening opinion siding with all of the liberals. Apparently, according to the Benedict Roberts, the Federal government can do anything it wants to, so long as someone calls it a tax…and even if the proponents don’t call it a tax, the Chief Justice will write an opinion to call is so. It was stunning defeat for originalists and the Constitution itself.

Well…we have heard from BO and Congress and we have now heard from the Supreme Court. Our only hope is to hear from the people, starting in November, and systematically throw these bums out of office….starting with the big BO and Bill Nelson who voted-in this ObamaCare mess to start with. It is solely up to us now. We also need to start nominating conservative judges with a solid track record and fight like hell to get them confirmed…not settle for judges with no consistent, documented track record of conservatism. That starts with controlling the White House to appoint the next round of Supreme Court judges.

Our meeting on the 15th will have 2 parts. We have another version of candidate speed dating. I have asked State Senator Anitere Flores (not up for re-election this time) to speak on why it is imperative to elect strong conservatives in Tallahassee. We will also follow up with short presentations from two candidates that need our support in the August primaries. Speaking will be State Representative Carlos Trujillo, who is running in a re-drawn District 105. Also, State Representative Jose Felix Diaz running in District 116.

The second half of the meeting will be presented by our own Nelva Garcia-Buznego, local coordinator for Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and Ken Mayo, AFP’s Director of Field Operations for all of Florida. They are going to talk about the extensive AFP operation in Wisconsin to defeat the Walker recall effort and how we can use the same tools and tactics to get Romney and Mack elected here.
Just a little about Ken Mayo…Ken comes to us with a number of years’ experience working in the trenches of political campaigns ranging from local county commissioner races to presidential campaigns. After getting his start in 1980 by volunteering on the Presidential campaign of Ronald Reagan and in 1982 for Congressman Jim Coyne, Ken was hired by Ari Fleischer in 1984 to be the campaign scheduler for a highly targeted Congressional race in Bucks County, PA; one of the top 10 targeted Congressional districts every elections cycle. Upon completion of this campaign, Ken was recruited to attend the first Campaign Management class conducted by the National Republican Congressional Committee, a full-time three month Campaign Academy that operated for the next eight years. After completing the first ever class Ken worked with the NRCC for a number of years running Congressional campaigns from Pennsylvania to Florida. During this time he also worked for a consulting firm in Washington DC, which had him involved in securing the first ever World Soccer Federation’s World Cup in the United States. Also during this time Ken was actively teaching Constitutional classes in the Philadelphia area on the history of First Amendment law. After a number of year’s hiatus from politics and relocating back to Tampa, the place of his birth, Ken found himself being asked to once again jump back in the game. He did so by helping with GOTV efforts for the 2008 Presidential campaign, then back to Pennsylvania to help with a number of Congressional races before permanently settling back in Florida where Ken launched American Majority throughout the state as their State Director before joining American’s for Prosperity as the Florida Director of Field Operations.

There is no bigger swing state than Florida, and we all need to plug into the effort to deliver the state to the Republicans. We are at the tip of the spear, and Americans for Prosperity plans to be a big part of the effort here. AFP has a unique strategy of voter education on issues that was very effective in Wisconsin. They have technology and a lot of cash to spend on these races. If Obama loses here, he loses the whole enchilada.

I also want to talk about a Hispanic outreach video campaign, much like that which was used in the mayoral recall effort to bring Hispanics into the conservative movement.

This is the perfect meeting for Tea-by-the-Sea Patriots. We ALL need to find a way to plug into campaigns for better government. From the beginning I have said we don’t just sit around and gripe at Tea-by-the-Sea, but we get up off the couch and work hard for candidates, issues and causes. We have to volunteer and help financially support these candidates. This is no longer a drill. Our liberties depend on our action.

I am trying to get FreedomWorks in for our meeting in August (probably August 12th). They have a SuperPAC and can actively campaign for candidates independently …another well-funded option for us to look at. We all need to do our part in some way.

This is a private meeting, only for conservatives dedicated to constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility and free markets. No press representatives, recordings or videos of meetings are allowed. Please email me at TeaSeaCG@gmail.com if you are coming so we can save you a place.

Don’t forget to join us afterwards for dinner downstairs.
