FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DAVID STOVER ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR 71ST DISTRICT STATE REPRESENTATIVE
Entrepreneur and Coweta County TEA Party Executive Coordinator promises to continue his fight to keep taxes low and for a constitutionally limited government
Palmetto, GA, Dec. 12, 2012 – Republican and TEA party activist David Stover today announced his candidacy for Georgia State House in the 71st district. Coweta Solicitor General Robert Stokely recently won the seat in the 2012 primary election with no challengers in the November general election but is unable to serve after being appointed to a judgeship with Coweta County Magistrate Court. A special election will be called.
Stover, who worked extensively on Stokely’s campaign, serves on the National Leadership Council for the TEA Party Patriots and as the Executive Coordinator for the local Coweta County TEA Party Patriots group. Stover is also his Republican district’s precinct captain and an Executive District Director for Georgia For FairTax.
“Robert is a great friend and I congratulate him on his appointment as a judge for Magistrate Court of Coweta
County,” said Stover. “I have no doubt that Robert would have been an excellent state representative and he will be an equally great Magistrate judge. In light of Robert’s appointment, I would be honored to represent the 71st district in his place.”Well known as a local activist against tax increases and government intrusion into the everyday lives of citizens, Stover has organized opposition against such issues as T-SPLOST, passing out as many as 12,000 fliers with his group of mostly TEA party volunteers. “I am proud to say that we succeeded in getting about ten carloads of people to volunteer, and together, we spent our weekends going around the county and handing them out. It worked. Our area had some of the highest “No” vote percentages in the state.”
“We lose more of our freedoms at the state and local levels of government,” says Stover. “We have a strong group of committed people in our area willing to spend their personal time to fight government overreach and excessive taxation. The next logical step is to bring it to the state level and continue my fight there.”
A businessman and entrepreneur, Stover has started, managed and grown numerous leading-edge technology-related businesses while serving as president of BrightNight Media, Inc., an advertising and business development agency he co-founded in 1997 with his wife, Kathy.
Stover was born and raised in the South Fulton/Coweta County area. He attended Georgia Southern University pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Engineering and later attended University of West Georgia for a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He and his wife live and have raised three daughters on a horse farm in the northern part of Coweta County. His two oldest children graduated from Northgate High School; Katie is attending Northern Illinois University pursuing her PhD, Chloe is attending Georgia Southern, and the youngest, McKenzie, is due to graduate from Northgate High School in the spring of 2013.
