American Energy Not so Bleak with Natural Gas. http://energycitizens.org/ec/advocacy/wire.aspx
It’s the middle of winter, and you may have noticed that your heating bill is a bit lower this year than last. You can thank the increased production of natural gas, which according to the attached article, is partly responsible for the lower home heating costs. Unfortunately, shale gas from New York isn’t contributing to the U.S.’s natural gas boom. The Department of Environmental Conservation is still moving slowly on the issue of hydraulic fracturing in the state, so New York is losing out on the jobs and economic growth that natural gas development brings. We encourage the governor to go beyond the rhetoric and read a recent column published in the New York Post that lays out a few facts about the benefits of hydraulic fracturing. The U.S. resurgence in natural gas production has created jobs and lowered home heating costs. Energy Citizens know the benefits of gas development, and it’s too bad New York’s policymakers are so slow to face the facts on this issue.http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/facing_frack_hysteria_PWwcCDKjR1BxHCVNDT7ARO
