New York’s recent court decision that upholds the rights of municipalities to prohibit natural gas development shows the need for increased energy citizenship and activism in New York state. These court decisions allow local politicians to override property rights and pre-empt state law, and if allowed to stand they will pose a major threat to future energy development in the Empire State.
