Sen. Nelson believes women should have access to contraception. But at the same time the government shouldn’t be forcing a religious institution to provide coverage if it’s not in keeping with its beliefs. So he thinks we need to find a common-sense solution, and has told the White House he’d like to see the health-care rule fixed. Already, some of the states have addressed this issue. One, for example, allows religious employers to enroll workers in a plan without contraceptive coverage, but employees who want contraception can have access to affordable extra coverage.
