Just finished reading ”A History of English Speaking Peoples” by Winston Churchill for the 3rd time, this time noting relevent ideas. In 17th century the King (Henry VIII I think) needed money for a war with France. So he 1) cut taxes and 2) decreased or eliminated import/export tarrifs, increasing revenue to his government. WOW! If only our politicians had gone to quality colleges. They might consider such a thing for this day and age.
