NETHERLANDS: Too damn bad, Muslims, Dutch scrap blasphemy laws
Now Dutch citizens can insult Allah or Muhammad as much as they want, and you Muslim crybabies can’t do anything about it.
AP The Almighty will have to defend his own name from now on: Dutch parliamenthas accepted a motion that will scrap a law making it a crime to insult God. A majority of parties said the European Union nation no longer needs the law, which hasn’t been invoked in the past half-century.
The movement to decriminalize blasphemy gathered strength in the last decade amid a national debate about the limits of freedom of speech. The climax came at the 2011 trial of far-right politician Geert Wilders, when judges ruled he had the right to criticize Islam, even if his opinions were insulting to many Muslims.

Something like that should be done against the Political Correct Adherents right here in America. It’s time to take back our rights and defend them for everyone on an EQUAL Basis. EQUAL JUSTICE trumps social justice. FREE SPEECH trumps politically correct restrictions. We need to scrap the laws that compromise our Constitutionally Guaranteed Freedoms once and for all.
but we gotta first get the guts to speak out against the commie dictator in the WH.. and no one will do it… all of his plans are all over the place and yet the dictator is still unchallenged or vetted…
Congress has not made such a law and if it did, it would be unconstitutional. Anti-discrimination laws directed against employers do not abridge freedom of speech. For example, if the Congress made it a crime to defame the religion of Islam (or Christianity) that would be unconsititutional, but if the Congress made it illegal to discriminate against Islamic or Chrisitan believers, or non-believers, that would pass constitutional muster. The reason that such anti-discrimination laws are passed is to avoid the civil unrest which would result when people are subject to outright denial of opportunity. That said, I don’t think requiring people to work on the Sabbath day (whatever day that may be) or wear whatever uniform is required by the employer, or refusing special holidays off should count as discrimination. But if your employer came to you one day and said, I hate Catholics because of the views of the priests, so you are fired, I believe that would be discriminatory.
Teapot, political correctness provisions in vogue now, and the laws that support it, do in fact infringe on Freedom of Speech. The Freedom of Speech provision in the Bill of Rights, was intended to allow for political dissension without restriction by the ruling factions. It also protected peoples opinions, especially the offensive ones. Non offensive opinions need no protection. As for the other points, if something is causing material harm or injury, it needs to be addressed for the material harm or injury, not for discrimination. Address and stop the act itself, not the results of that act. Example some Murders are considered hate crimes, I think Murder itself is a hate crime without having to enact another law to address the same act. As long as we make legal distinctions for or against any Ethnic, Religious, Racial, or for that matter any difference, we will be a people divided by abstract ideas. ’Social Justice’ is just another way/excuse to discriminate while pretending to stop or reverse discrimination. Equal Justice For ALL, is what needs to be promoted and defended. Under the Equal Justice under the Law concept, everyone would get the same treatment, and be held to the same rules and standards. Under the Social Justice concept, everyone would be treated differently and held to a different set of rules further enhancing social unrest and feelings of betrayal. There was a time when one of the States formed a State authorized Religion and it was found that the State could do that but the Federal Government could not stop the State from doing it. Massachusetts I believe it was and it continued until the state Constitution put an end to it. That shows the difference in States Rights in the original Republic and States rights in what we have now with the Federal government sticking it’s nose into everything.
Agree with you that hate crimes laws are ridiculous. Murder is murder, rape is rape, theft is theft. When you try to enhance penalties for some victims, it says that other victims are less important. Still, there is a nuance here between hate crimes and restriction on speech. The way I see it, free speech entails words or publication, while a hate crime is words combined with illegal action. In some cases words alone can be a crime, inciting violence, etc, but gemerally am illegal action is required.
I agree. You can’t shout Fire in a crowded theater if there is no fire. A hate crime was originally a sop to the minorities that were being abused and the State laws were not protecting them. Citing the Alabama school integration where the State National Guard was there to hinder integration not protect the kids. Unfortunately those same laws have been skewed to only apply to one segment of the population in their usage. They now are primarily used against whites of European origin and christian or Judaic faith. Seems that Islamic Jihadist’s can rant and rave calling for the murder of every Christian and Jew but they are not charged with hate speech, New Black Panthers can intimidate Voters and not be charged, SEIU goons can be caught on camera beating up a union member that refused to vote the way he was told and they do not get charged. Let a White say the N word, and they are going to jail with a heavy fine, but let a black say Kike or Honky or Paddy and nothing happens. Wonder why that is? I don’t like those words because they hurt peoples feelings so I don’t use them, but I don’t think the First Amendment Freedoms are being observed by blocking the nasty speech even though it is disgusting.
Ouch, I hate ”political correctness.” It has no place in my life. As far as I know there are no laws that support it, just people like myself who have to make myself face up to it. We are told it is done in the name of trying to be nice and not hurt anyone’s feelings. I say bullshit…Just take a look at what happened at Fort Hood…A National disgrace as far as I am concerned. Sorry, I lost respect for those in command..they need to be demoted or cast out…
Ellie, all the Hate Crime, Hate Speech, and Social Justice Laws support and actually stem from the Political Correctness Dogmatic Beliefs.
What makes you think that Congress will make no law abridging our freedom of speech…They already overlook it. Pay no attention to it. And if they did make an official law abridging our freedom of speech, what would you do about it?
