Without a doubt some people in corporations are evil. Evil exists everywhere, even throughout the US, even within corporations. Is corruption, the appearance of corruption, or lobbying for favors by any level of government at the expense of taxpayers evil? If so, your brother is correct. And, each of those need to be corrected by taking out the rewards via existing tort law, less regulation, free markets, smaller government.

Ben, maybe you can explain to your brother one aspect which was not publiszed much, but when BP filed for their permit to drill in the gulf, BP requested to drill in shallow waters (ie. 500 ft and or less) whcih the state of LA granted. However, the drilling permit process is a dual application approval process, which you must receive from the local state of jurisdiction and the federal govt DOE. The Federal govt denied the shallow permit but granted BP permission to drill in deep waters (ie: 5000 ft or more). The deeper the water, greater the risk . . which is bascially new technology at work . . hence an accident occured resulting in the loss of life . . so if he wants to blame somebody, I think the govt is clearly in the crosshairs . . but that’s my humble opinion . .

Could it also be that he has some info that u may need to ask about. Him having that one viewpoint doesn’t necessarily make him a liberal…as our other friend said, corruption is everywhere but that doesn’t make our country bad, as opposed to countries such as N Korea, Iran, etc…even in those countries most of the civilian population just want to eat and it’s the governments of those countries that are evil.

The accounts given by the survivors on that rig indicate that a series of failures occurred sequentially, raising questions of sabotage, yes there are thoughtless green people too, who may be so enamored with their opinions that they would get a job on a rig and get into the switchboxes.
No tool pusher would try to plug a gas-bubble with seawater, no matter how much in long the stem, and no crew would help him do it, to get a job on the drill-deck of a deep-water rig takes very good credentials.
Those who were there said that the last they saw of the drill crew they were scrambling towards the pump-deck, indicating the crew had knowledge of the gas bubble and were trying to get past the blast-doors, which failed.
If your brother is upset over that, please understand that I am upset about 2 wars waged in an effort to try to recognized a cult as a religion and weed out the bad-guys.

Their have been allot of propaganda pieces put out that use bits of information that apart mean nothing but together as a weight only and without being a proof give life to things the filmakers want you to believe. Micheal moore comes to mind as a producer of like bull. I cant think of the one I stomached to understand the oil thing but I will look at the bumper sticker again. Love your brother and look for Gods time but it may help if you can find the source of the propaganda hes recieveing because thats what you are really fighting
