Whew! This group is definately not easy to join! Let’s see – I probably spent 45 minutes finding the group, narrowing down my choices and then signing up. Hmmm. I wonder how many potential members have been discouraged from joining because of all of the hoops that have to be jumped through.
O.K., so I clicked the ’EVENTS’ button to see when the next meeting is – nuthin’! O.K., so I checked to see what legislative proposals are being worked on in Annapolis and got the same answer – nuthin’! Imagine that. The MD General Assembly is only in session for a few months each year and we don’t have anything on the table.O.K., maybe a few of the members are doing research on a proposal behind the scenes.
Doesn’t matter. We can start now. Who wants to meet? Let’s plan for 7:00 pm, Thursday, March 14, 2013. Once we know who is planning to attend and where you live; we’ll plan to meet in a central location. We will make that decision on March 7th. I live in northern Carroll County.
Here’s the deal – it only takes one person to get a project started. Two people make it better. And so on.
Fifteen years ago, I wanted to start a P.T.A. at my local Elementary School (when I lived in P.G. County). I spoke to a few other interested people and we made it happen. The mayor of the town and a few of the Councilmen got on board with us and a few local businesses gave us corporate donations! After the board members received training from the State P.T.A., one of our board members wanted to institute a uniform policy. We made that happen, too. We conducted book fairs, special events and we were able to revive a dormant scholarship fund at the University of Maryland.
So whaddya wanna do? Let’s meet, plan, scheme and make some things happen.
