In the last few weeks, talk of who Mitt Romney will choose as his running mate has been widespread. Now that Mitt Romney has garnered enough electoral votes for the GOP nomination, you can expect this talk to heat up even more.
With the many possible scenarios based on strengths, weaknesses and needs of the Romney candidacy, many names have been mentioned as possible candidates.
It is no secret that any success in 2012 may rest on “who” is chosen as the vice presidential candidate. Which brings us to the purpose of this very important email in which your immediate feedback on the below survey is vitally important.
All public and off the record reports indicate Senator Rob Portman (R) of Ohio is one of the top, if not the top, person on Mitt Romney’s choice for Vice President.
Because many of Senator Portman’s positions were counter to those of the grassroots Tea Party movement, we feel it is incumbent upon us to let Mitt Romney know, in no uncertain terms, the opinion of the grassroots Tea Party movement in Ohio regarding any consideration of Senator Rob Portman being his pick for Vice President.
Some of the past positions of Senator Rob Portman that were inconsistent with our core values of “Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Support of the Free Markets” are as follows;
Senator Portman supported every debt ceiling increase.
Senator Portman supported the failed Gang of 6 plan.
Senator Portman supported the appointment of former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray to President Obama’s unconstitutional and autonomous Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Senator Portman supported the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) has provisions that would allow for American citizen’s detained on U.S. soil to be held indefinitely and without charge by the military.
Senator Portman served on the failed Deficit Reduction Committee (Super Committee).
Senator Portman has refused to take a stance on the Law of the Sea Treaty (L.O.S.T.).
Senator Portman, speaking about Senator Dick Lugar’s defeat at the hands of the Tea Party groups in Indiana, stated….
“Obviously in a Republican primary a more conservative candidate can articulate the issues and sometimes has an advantage and that was
the case there,” Portman said. “Look, maybe I’m naïve about this, but it’s not so much about ideology as it is about a willingness to find a result.”
