The Problem For Folks Like Us

I heard it first at the barber shop. Then at the airport. And then from callers to a radio show. Folks like us seem to think we have a problem. They think that we have too many candidates, and that the candidates will spend too much money tearing one another down, and that the process may produce, after a burst of fratricidal campaign spots, a mortally damaged nominee. This concern is unlike us. Folks like us tend to encourage dissent and welcome debate; we are the permanent insurgency and we thrive on the hurly-burly of controversy. But now that we’re up against the glacial advance of Clinton Inc., these folks seem to be saying, maybe we should ...

On this Veterans Day, we say thanks

This Veterans Day, we honor those Americans who fought and served in the U.S. Armed Forces. We commemorate their sacrifice and thank them for preserving and protecting our freedom. It’s no stretch to say that if not for our veterans, none of us would be afforded the opportunity to live in the great United States of America. Unfortunately, this year saw a string events inflicting more hardship on our troops. For much of 2014, the Department of Veterans Affairs struggled to honestly answer questions about cover-ups and wait times at VA medical centers that resulted in more than one veteran death. So while agency bureaucrats profited, veterans ...

Federal tax revenue breaks a new record – and that’s a problem

News out of the Treasury Department [1] this week showed that federal tax revenue for fiscal year 2014 exceeded $3 trillion – an increase of nearly $247 billion from the previous fiscal year. It’s the first time the federal government has collected that much in taxes – ever. It’s maybe the one thing under President Obama that’s “better off” than it was six years ago, depending on how you look at. That the federal tax coffers have grown to record highs (thanks to American taxpayers) is no surprise given the Obama Administration’s liberal policies. What’s more surprising (or frustrating) is how none of that is reflected in the ...

New emails shows Lois Lerner trying to cover up her tracks

A new email released [1] byRepublicans on the House Oversight Committee could very well be the “smoking gun” investigators have been searching for in the last year. This latest email shows former IRS employee Lois Lerner at least knew here agency had it coming. The email is dated April 9, 2013- less than two weeks after the IRS inspector general unearthed the tea party targeting practices, but about one month before it became public.  In it, Lerner warned colleagues to be careful about what they included in emails. She also asked if the IRS’ internal messaging system could be searched by Congressional investigators. Lerner’s email to ...

Jenny Beth Martin Remarks To Open Press Conference on House Vote to Hold Lois Lerner in Contempt of Congress

The IRS used intimidation tactics to target those with whom the president disagrees, prevented ordinary citizens from exercising their constitutional right to free speech, and has thus far evaded responsibility for this reprehensible action. Today’s vote holding Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress brings us one step closer to justice and accountability as we push to learn the truth about who started this abuse of power, how high it runs within the administration, and who was involved. With us are some of those the IRS targeted and some of the champions in Congress who are trying to learn the truth. Kevin Kookogey of Nashville, Tennessee… ...
