Montana Tea Party Groups Convene in Helena

Tea party groups from across Big Sky Country gathered in the state’s capitol city last weekend to talk about strategy and upcoming opportunities for the movement. And with newly minted GOP majorities in both chambers of the legislature, Montana conservatives see abounding opportunities. Close to a dozen different tea party groups from across the (huge) state attended, as did TPP’s Legislative Coordinator Bill Pascoe and Communications Director Kevin Broughton. Attendees got a quick tutorial on social media on Friday, then got a chance to see what their colleagues across Montana were doing to further the cause. Investigative reporter Ron Catlett ...

Tea Party Vanguard: Local Leaders in Action

Across the country, Tea Party activists face hostile press from the mainstream media. In Green Valley, Arizona, two local Tea Party leaders were given the chance to explain their views to the surprisingly fair and open-minded editor of a local newspaper. The interview was done in advance of a massive, one-day conference called “Defending the Constitution,” cosponsored by the Southern Arizona Tea Party Coalition and the Southern Arizona Conservative PAC. The two activists, Don and Patti Woolley, are leaders of the Sahuarita Tea Party Patriots, which is about a year old. The Woolleys explained what they believe – the article states that “Don ...

A Win for “We the People” in Maryland

On Saturday night it came to our attention that a group of Democrat activists were working to ban members of the We the People Caroll County Tea Party group from a public town hall for Rep. Chris Van Hollen who represents the 8th Congressional District in Maryland. It was reported that these Democrat activists were threatening to use law enforcement to ban the Tea Party group from the town hall under the accusation that they have displayed “violent tendencies.” Anyone who has been around the Tea Party and has seen it first-hand knows that this is an outrageous accusation – and one that would only be believed by people who get their news from ...

Tea Party group makes a splash

As most Tea Party activists know, town hall meetings are often boring affairs. This was not the case when Marilyn Snyder of the Redlands, California, Tea Party Patriots attended the last City Council meeting. Snyder, along with six other members of her organization, spoke against the way the City Council does its business with regards to special interests and spending in general. Tea Party Patriots’ Dustin Siggins chatted with Snyder about her organization and the Council meeting itself. Snyder, who says all of the people in her group are equal, is in charge of the administration, the website, and organizing a weekly table at a local “market ...

How Senoia Tea Party Patriots stole the parade

All across the nation, Tea Party activists are finding new ways to reach our fellow countrymen. In Sharpsburg, Georgia, a Tea Party Patriots group built a boat to show their patriotism. It was so good, they developed a slide show of how they put it together, and the boat float received two awards at two parades last year. I spoke with Senoia Tea Party coordinator Joe Cannin earlier this week about the float’s success: Dustin Siggins: What is your group? Joe Cannin: We’re in Georgia. My group is over 60 members. I’m in a city, so my draw is basically the residential areas of Senoia and Sharpsburg. We work regularly with the Fayette ...
