Tea Party Patriots: McConnell Has Failed to Deliver. Time For Him to Go.

Republicans hold the White House, and majorities in the House and the Senate, because of the long, hard hours grassroots volunteers worked on their campaigns over the last four election cycles.

Those grassroots volunteers – millions of whom I represent, as Co-Founder and CEO of Tea Party Patriots – were motivated to work by the campaign promises made by Republican candidates.

They promised to end the Obama era practice of spending more than the government takes in, so we can balance the budget and pay down our $20 trillion national debt.

They promised to end the Obama era overreach of the federal government.

They promised to hold accountable the Internal Revenue Service officials responsible for illegally targeting us for our political beliefs.

They promised to nominate and confirm Constitutionalists to the federal bench.

They promised to secure our borders, protect American jobs, and end the scourge of illegal immigration.

And in their most famous campaign promise of all, they promised to repeal ObamaCare, and I quote, “root and branch.”

For nine months, our supporters have been urging Republicans in Congress to do one simple thing: Keep your promises.

Those pleas have fallen on deaf ears.

The government is still spending far more than it takes in, and we have no reason to believe Republicans are willing to fight to reduce the size of government.

The government has done nothing to hold accountable the IRS officials who targeted us, and the IRS Commissioner – a man who lied to Congress and covered up the targeting scandal – is so secure in his job that he just awarded a sole-source, no-bid contract for data security to a company that just a few weeks earlier announced it had failed to protect the credit data of 145 million Americans!

The government still has not begun construction of a border wall, and the Congress has yet to provide funding for the additional manpower resources necessary to crack down on illegal immigration.

The Senate confirmed Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, and for that we are grateful. But there are now more than 100 vacancies in the federal judiciary, and there are more vacancies today than there were on the day Donald Trump was sworn in as President, because the Senate has taken off so much time that they’ve only confirmed six – SIX – judicial nominees NOT named “Gorsuch!”

And what need I say about the disastrous effort to repeal ObamaCare? “Promise made, promise broken?”

Perhaps if Congress were not benefiting from its illegal special exemption from ObamaCare, if members of the House and Senate and their staffs were actually living under the law the way it was written, paying the full price and bearing the same burdens that the rest of us have to live with, they’d understand just how painful ObamaCare really is, and they’d have a personal stake in repealing it.

But as long as Mitch McConnell is Majority Leader of the United States Senate, that illegal special exemption for Congress is going to stay in place.

All these failures have one thing in common – they represent a FAILURE of LEADERSHIP.

Mitch McConnell has had his chance. He has failed to deliver. It is TIME FOR HIM TO GO.
