Eyeglasses with newspaper and coffee cup

We’re only 25 days from November 6, and almost a week into the Tea Party Patriots’ Call From Home Program! So far we’ve had people across the country join in, which is great. Keep it up!

In addition to calls, we would like you to do one extra thing today: write a letter to the editor of your favorite newspaper in your state – whether local, regional, or statewide in coverage – explaining why the principles of the Tea Party are those voters should look to on Election Day. Phone calls are exceedingly important in spreading our values to undecided voters, but many people read comments and letters for additional information. Furthermore, some people reject cold calls automatically; who can ignore an articulate, well-thought out letter espousing one’s values instead of a party?

What are the values of the Tea Party? You know them by heart, and why we need to bring them back to our federal government. Here is a sample letter you can feel free to edit for your own use, or ignore as you write your own:

To the Editor,

The 2012 federal elections are the most important elections in a generation. Americans will be deciding whether to stay true to the principles of our Founders or take a turn towards the European socialist system we see collapsing across the Atlantic.

Since 2009, the Tea Party has opposed overspending from both parties, and supported a return to the Constitution. As a member of Tea Party Patriots, the nation’s largest Tea Party organization, I encourage your readers to consider the following when they go into the booth on November 6:

1.     Fiscal Responsibility: balancing the budget will prevent us from being like Greece, Portugal, Ireland, and Spain.
2.     Free markets will encourage competition which will spark innovation and economic growth to help get people back to work.
3.     Constitutionally-limited government will stop overreaches by the federal government, in everything from economically harmful regulations to unconstitutional TSA screenings.
4.     The President’s health care law increases federal spending, moves the decision making power from the doctor/patient relationship to the federal government, and violates the First Amendment rights of all Americans. It should be overturned by Congress.

America is the greatest nation the world has ever seen, and I believe it is important we continue this legacy. The core principles of Tea Party Patriots will allow us to move forward in a positive direction.

Thank you for making your voice seen and heard by hundreds of your fellow citizens. Your invaluable work will result in our nation turning back from European-style government and towards the kind of nation our Founders envisioned. God Bless!
