From HIV to Cancer to Crone’s, ObamaCare Fails the Sick

It turns out ObamaCare didn’t solve the problem of “pre-existing conditions” after all. It made premiums more affordable for people with chronic health conditions that are expensive to treat — but at the price of sticking them with unaffordable co-payments for their medications. The nonprofit AIDS Institute is suing four Florida health insurers for discriminating against HIV/AIDS patients. The complaint says these patients now face prohibitive out-of-pocket drug costs. Sadly, most of the plans sold via ObamaCare all across the country have similar problems — leaving those with chronic diseases without affordable access to the specialty drugs they need. The Affordable Care Act limits the degree to which insurers can charge higher premiums for sicker patients. But ObamaCare plans found a way around these rules: impose higher out-of-pocket costs for all or most specialty drugs.

Obama Leads Nation on Divisive Path

President Barack Obama is impatient. Congress won’t act on immigration, he says, and therefore he will. The White House is coy as to exactly what the president will do. But the leaks point to an executive order essentially legalizing an enormous new class of illegal immigrants, perhaps as many as 5 million people. One doesn’t usually respond to rumors. But this is an idea so bad and so persistently peddled by the White House that it has already been pre-emptively criticized by such unusual suspects as (liberal) constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley, concerned about yet another usurpation of legislative power by the “uber presidency,” and The Washington Post editorial page, which warned that such a move would “tear up the Constitution.” If this is just a trial balloon, the time to shoot it down is now.

An outstanding column by Charles Krauthammer.

Illegal Alien Crime Victims Slam Boehner Absence at Border

Several victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens criticized Speaker John Boehner’s absence at an event on the southern U.S. border in McAllen, Texas Saturday, saying the Ohio Republican and champion of immigration reform should witness the violence spilling over from Mexico first hand. … “We are part of the victims of the problem out here—our son was murdered in Pearland, Texas, from an illegal immigrant,” George Wilkerson said at the event, hosted by the Remembrance Project—a group devoted to remembering victims of horrific crimes like murder and homicide committed by illegal aliens. “We have invited John to come down here, and his family, to see firsthand what’s going on and as you can see they failed to show up for us,” George Wilkerson said. “I think they need to show up and give us some respect.” “He was tortured, beaten to death, strangled and then set on fire,” Laura Wilkerson, with her husband George at her side, added about their son Josh’s murder by an illegal alien. “We know firsthand what it feels like to have that happen to a family.

Does anybody in Washington care about stopping the heartache of families threatened by illegal immigration?
