State Department upgrades more private Clinton emails to ‘secret,’ ‘confidential’

State Department officials under a judge’s orders Saturday published more than 550 of Hillary Clinton’s private emails, classifying dozens of them as ‘secret’ and ‘confidential.’

The Washington Examiner has the details:

Most of the 84 emails were upgraded to “confidential,” the lowest level of classification. A handful were upgraded to “secret.” None were designated “top secret,” though the State Department upgraded as many as 29 emails to “top secret” when they missed a court-ordered deadline at the end of January.

The intelligence community inspector general has argued many of the now-classified emails were considered classified when they passed through Clinton’s private email network. Clinton maintains none were classified at the time.

The State Department announced in late January it had already opened its own inquiry into when the emails should have been considered classified.
