ObamaCare’s Fifth Birthday Makes Us Sick

Five years ago today, without a single Republican vote, Congress rammed the unconstitutional Protection and Affordable Care Act into law. We know it as “Obamacare.”

As former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) one famously said, “[W]e have to pass [Obamacare], so that you can find out what is in it.” Five years later, we now know why this massive overhaul of America’s already imperfect healthcare system was rushed through at rapid speed before the public could scrutinize the details.

Despite President Barack Obama’s promises that if you liked your plan, you could keep it, millions of people have lost their insurance coverage. Millions of Americans and small businesses are struggling to pay skyrocketing insurance premiums while simultaneously facing harsh penalties on this year’s tax returns. We are left with a broken website which cost taxpayers more than a billion dollars, while a countless number of unemployed Americans cannot find work because the requirements of Obamacare are too expensive for employers to justify.

The most recent polling shows that 58% of Americans [1] already oppose Obamacare, and that’s before the law is fully implemented. This is why it is essential for Tea Party activists to work on a state by state level to stop the implementation of state insurance exchanges, while supporting the plaintiffs in Supreme Court legal challenges, such as King v. Burwell.

However, if Obamacare is repealed, there is still a need for serious reform to America’s healthcare system. Real reform consists of: comprehensible and constitutional rules which adhere to free-market principles.

Healthcare is too important to leave in the hands of IRS agents and other government bureaucrats. Please join Tea Party Patriots in stopping Obamacare before it sees another birthday.
