Justice Antonin Scalia to be honored at the Supreme Court this Friday
Justice Antonin Scalia will lie in repose at the Great Hall of the Supreme Court this Friday, and members of the public have been invited to visit between 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. The Supreme Court justice, who passed away unexpectedly last Saturday, will be remembered for his devotion to preserving the original intent behind the Constitution; his brilliant and frequently witty and colorful dissents; and his years serving in the judicial branch.
Justice Antonin Scalia will lie in repose at the Supreme Court on Friday followed by a funeral Saturday, a source close to the family told CNN. The funeral will take place at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington at 11 a.m., the source said. The funeral will be open to the public. Scalia’s Supreme Court bench chair and the bench directly in front of it were draped Tuesday with black wool crepe to memorialize the justice who died over the weekend.
Tea Party Patriots joins many others in mourning the loss of Justice Scalia and sends deepest condolences to his family. TPP co-founder Jenny Beth Martin said in a statement, “Justice Scalia’s knowledge of and love for our Constitution were beyond measure. His dedication to the original text of the Constitution inspired millions of Americans and cemented his status as one of our greatest ever Supreme Court Justices.”
