IG Report on FBI Conduct in Clinton Probe Undermines Faith in Government to Operate in Best Interests of All Its Citizens

Atlanta, GA – Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund Chairman Jenny Beth Martin released the following statement today, reacting to the release of the Department of Justice Inspector General’s report on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server to conduct public business as Secretary of State.

“The Inspector General of the Department of Justice released his findings into the FBI’s investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server to conduct public business, and it once again shows improper behavior at the top of the FBI. According to the report, some FBI officials exhibited a disturbing ‘willingness to take official action’ to damage then-candidate Trump’s campaign, and goes on to document how one of the FBI agents running the investigation texted his FBI colleague and lover ‘we’ll stop’ Donald Trump from becoming president, which shows deep political bias on the part of a key investigator.

“Mr. Strzok was the FBI’s Chief of Counter Espionage at the time and he also led the FBI’s probe into Russian interference in the election. This revelation is stunning.

“As a group that was targeted by President Obama’s IRS, we are dismayed that we now have new evidence that the IRS was not the only agency operating under undue political bias. This report further undermines conservatives’ faith that the federal government is operating in the best interests of all its citizens, based on the rule of law, but instead serves its own interests first.

“Is it any wonder our fellow citizens have so little faith that the federal government will secure the border and protect us from illegal immigration?”
