Patriots across the country are concerned that students are not being taught about our founding documents. Tea Party Patriots mounts a national campaign for Constitution Week (September 17-23), to encourage schools to comply with a law passed by Congress in 2004 requiring an educational program on the Constitution be taught during Constitution Week.
In 2004, Congress passed Public Law 108-447, Section 111, which requires: “Each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of such year for the students served by the educational institution.”
It’s as easy as 1-2-3:
- Adopt a School – Choose a school that you can inform about the 2004 law and that you will donate materials to if needed.
- Make Contact with the school board, superintendent, and/or principal, and local media in your community.
- Obtain Materials for YOUR School or Help YOUR School Implement a Program.Visit www.nccs.net or www.ConstitutionWeekUSA.com for Constitution Week materials, resources, and additional ideas.
If your school is hesitant toward implementing a Constitution Week program, please let your Tea Party group know, and then contact the media in your community. We want our children and grandchildren to be taught the meaning and significance of the fundamental documents that created our great nation.
