Defend our Supreme Court

Project Update: From February through July of this year, Tea Party Patriots dedicated significant time and resources to preventing President Obama from turning the Supreme Court into his personal rubber stamp. We planned rallies, deployed our supporters to town hall meetings, and rallied the country to tell Congress that in an election year, the people should have a say in who gets to nominate the next Supreme Court Justice. To this point, we have been successful in blocking the President’s liberal nominee and will continue to raise the alarm to the American people if there is any further movement on any nomination before the election.

With the untimely passing of Justice Antonin Scalia in February, the stakes for 2016 are higher than ever. The Obama administration and the entire left-of-center movement are throwing everything they’ve got at Senate Republicans in an effort to force them to cave and confirm a liberal Supreme Court nominee. They want to permanently strip the Supreme Court of Justices who love and uphold the Constitution, and replace them with far-left activists who believe in a “living Constitution.” We cannot let this happen!

It has been more than 80 years since a Supreme Court vacancy was filled by Senate confirmation when the vacancy occurred during a presidential election year, and more than 100 years since a vacancy caused by the death of a sitting Supreme Court Justice has been filled during a presidential election year.

Elections have consequences, and in 2014 the American people decided that the Senate should be controlled by Republicans to act as a check on President Obama’s overreach of power. Before any nominee is confirmed, the American people should have a chance to weigh in on this vacancy at the ballot box in November.

For the rest of 2016, Tea Party Patriots will focus heavily on Senate Republicans, making sure they keep their promises to hold firm against the pressure from the progressive left. This means no hearings and no votes on any nomination by President Obama so that the American people can have a say in the process. After all, this is a lifetime appointment. The citizenry deserve the right to impact such a monumental decision. Please bookmark this page and check back often to see how you can get engaged to help us defend the Supreme Court!

With the untimely passing of Justice Antonin Scalia, we must do everything in our power to defend the Supreme Court so we can save our Constitution. The best way to defend the court is to encourage Republicans in the Senate to stand firm and block any nomination until the American people have had an opportunity to weigh in at the ballot box in November. Please sign the petition to send a message to your Senators. All you have to do is sign and we’ll take care of the rest.
