ATLANTA, Ga – Tea Party Patriots co-founder and CEO Jenny Beth Martin released the following statement today reacting to a federal judge’s ruling in favor of the House’s Obamacare lawsuit challenging the funding of Cost Sharing Reduction payments.

“Tea Party Patriots and our supporters have always believed Obamacare is unconstitutional and that the White House and its congressional enablers have broken laws, including the plain text of the statute itself, in order to prop up an unworkable law that is destined for failure. Today, a federal court has agreed that the Obama Administration has been ‘improperly funding’ Cost Sharing Reduction (CRS) payments through the Obamacare program in an unconstitutional manner — specifically, in direct violation of Article 1, section 9, which says, “No money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in consequence of appropriations made by law.” While our organization’s goal is full repeal of Obamacare through the legislative process, we applaud the court’s decision to hold the Obama Administration accountable for its decision to flout the law in order to sustain Obamacare. We still maintain that the best course is for Congress to repeal this unconstitutional law and restore freedom and choice to the American health care system.”
