Rep. Ryan’s ‘Plan to End Stalemate’ Misses the Mark
Ignores Obamacare and the Damage it is Causing Americans
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Tea Party Patriots criticized Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) recent op-Ed on “How We Can End This Stalemate” in The Wall Street Journal for failing to address the concerns the American people have over Obamacare.
“There is no question it is the President and Democrats who refuse to negotiate, but it is the President’s failed healthcare law that needs to be dealt with in Congress,” said Jenny Beth Martin, National Coordinator for Tea Party Patriots. “Not once did Mr. Ryan mention the program that is hurting hard-working Americans. We must remember the reason we are fighting and remain united in our opposition to Obamacare. To quote President Lincoln, ‘A house divided against itself cannot stand.’ This stalemate will end when Democrats in the Senate agree to do their duty and negotiate.
“Not only is Obamacare not ready for sale, as we’ve seen from the numerous ‘glitches’ in the rollout, but as Big Business, Big Government, and Big Labor have told us, it’s not ready for them either,” continued Mrs. Martin. “Despite these obvious failings, the average American is being stuck with the bill. The Tea Party Patriots demand Congress stop spending our tax money on this unaffordable, unworkable law —it’s the fair and right thing to do!
“Mr. Ryan, as you’ve said in the past: ‘Costs are going up, premiums are rising, and millions of people will lose the coverage they currently have. Job creation is being stifled by all of its taxes, penalties, mandates and fees,’ when referring to Obamacare in response to the President’s State of the Union address in 2011. Follow your own advice and let’s keep fighting for the American people!”
