Rep. Jason Chaffetz issues subpoena to FBI official during dramatic hearing

House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) Monday during a hearing on Capitol Hill issued a subpoena to an uncooperative FBI official who refused to hand over to Congress unredacted work-related emails Hillary Clinton sent from her private server when she was secretary of state.

“You don’t get to decide what I get to see. I get to see it all. I was elected by some 800,000 people to come to Congress and see classified information. I was elected by my colleagues here to be the chairman of this committee. That’s the way our Constitution works. Will the FBI provide the Congress with the full file with no redactions of personal, identifiable information?”

The chairman, after being told by the FBI official “I cannot make that commitment sitting here today,” issued a subpoena for files not fully handed over to Congress last month by the FBI after bureau officials concluded their investigation into Clinton’s unsecured homebrew-server emails and recommended the Justice Department not press charges against the former secretary of state.

“Then I’m going to issue a subpoena and I’m going to do it right now. So, let’s go. I’ve signed this subpoena. We want all the 302s and we would like the full file. You can accept service on behalf of the FBI? You are hereby served.”
