Administration Designed Obamacare to Pressure States;
Exceeded Executive Authority…Again
Newly-Discovered Video Validates DC Court of Appeals Decision
|ATLANTA, GA –In a newly-discovered video by PJ Media from January 2012, one of the chief architects of Obamacare said the Affordable Care Act provides no tax credits for citizens in states that do not set up their own exchanges. Speaking to an audience at Noblis, a nonprofit scientific and engineering research organization in Falls Church, Virginia, MIT economist Jonathan Gruber urged states to set up their own insurance exchanges so citizens could take advantage of the tax credits.
This smoking gun proves the Administration operated in an unconstitutional manner when designing the law.
Following this discovery, Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, issued the following statement:
“The shocking revelation by Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber should be Exhibit A in the inevitable Supreme Court hearing on the president’s health insurance debacle; it defines the issue involving state insurance exchanges and tax credits. The Administration deliberately designed Obamacare to deny tax credits for people in states that don’t set up a state health exchange, as the “stick” to force states to create the exchanges. They knew exactly what they were doing and they knew exactly why they were doing it – Gruber himself described it as blatant, ugly politics. The intent and the language of Obamacare could not be clearer on subsidies; the DC Court of Appeals decision that they are unconstitutional is the right decision.”
